Semi-Cured Gel Nails
What are semi-cured gel nails?
Semi-cured gel nails are nail wraps made from real gel that are partially cured on a base of medical grade adhesive. They’re flexible for easy application and then fully cured under a UV/LED lamp for a durable, salon-quality finish.
How do I prep my nails?
Nail prep is key to a good fit and your nail wraps lasting. Start by cleaning your nails to remove any oils, pushing back your cuticles, and if necessary, lightly buffing the surface. This helps the wraps adhere better and last longer.
Do I need a base or topcoat?
A base coat isn’t necessary, but a top coat can add extra durability and shine. It’s optional but great for those who want their wraps to last even longer.
How do I apply them?
Watch our Application Video to see exactly how to apply.
Align the wrap along your cuticle, press it down from the centre outwards to avoid bubbles, and fold the excess over the tip. File off any excess and then cure under a UV/LED lamp for 60 seconds. You may need to file and smooth out the edges a bit once cured.
Do I have to cure them and for how long?
Yes, to fully set the wraps, cure them under a UV/LED lamp for 60-90 seconds, depending on your lamp’s strength. (It is recommended to use a lamp that operates between 365nm – 405nm).
How long do semi-cured gel nails last?
With proper application and care, semi-cured gel nails can last up to 2 weeks. Depending on how you use your hand you should be able to wear them longer, a top coat can also help here.
Can I swim or shower with them?
Yes, once fully cured, we recommend waiting an hour or two before putting your hands in water or applying oils or lotion. After that your wraps are water-resistant, so you can swim and shower without worrying about them lifting.
How do I know if they will fit my nails?
Each strip comes with 10 different sizes to match your nails. You can also stretch the wraps slightly if needed or trim them to fit perfectly. The smallest wrap is 8mm wide and the largest is 17mm wide.
What if I put it on skew or make a mistake?
Don’t worry! Gently peel off the wrap and reapply it before curing. If you’ve already cured it, use a fresh wrap to replace it.
Can I use them as extensions?
No, semi-cured gel wraps aren’t designed for extensions, but you can apply them over existing gel or acrylic extensions for a fresh look.
Will this make my nails stronger?
Yes, the gel wraps can add a protective layer to your nails, helping to prevent breaks and splits.
Can this help with nail biting?
Definitely! The durable, smooth surface can deter nail biting, giving your nails a chance to grow out healthy.
Will this damage my nails?
When applied and removed correctly, semi-cured gel wraps are gentle on your nails. Avoid pulling them off and rather follow proper removal techniques (using cuticle oil and gently lifting them) to prevent damage.
My hair keeps getting caught—what can I do?
If your hair is getting caught, it’s likely due to lifting around the cuticle area. Make sure the wraps are pressed down firmly around the edges and not overlapping or touching the cuticles. Rather opt for a size smaller than bigger as contact with the cuticle introduces oils under the wrap. This will cause premature lifting.
Can I put a new set on straight after taking the old one off?
We recommend taking a short break (1 or 2 days) between sets to let your natural nails absorb essential natural oils from your skin and if possible, get some exposure to sunlight. This helps keep your nails healthy and strong before applying a fresh set of wraps. (PS: We recommend this between any enhancements you put on your nails, not just our products).
How do I remove them?
Gently lift a small area on the side of the wrap. Add loads of cuticle oil and begin to massage it under the wrap as you go along. Add more as needed to loosen the adhesive and then massage the cuticle oil into the nail. If there is any adhesive left on the nail you can remove this with an alcohol swab or a light buff.
How do I store the leftover wraps?
Store unused wraps in their original black sleeve and keep them away from light to prevent them from curing prematurely. Once exposed to light they will begin to naturally slowly cure.
Are they safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?
Yes, semi-cured gel wraps are generally safe, but if you have any concerns, consult with your healthcare provider.
Can I use them on my toes?
Absolutely! Semi-cured gel wraps can be used on both your fingernails and toenails for a complete, polished look. Or, you can try our Gel Toe Wraps, they will probably be a better fit.
What if the wraps don’t stick properly?
If you’re having trouble with adhesion, make sure your nails are thoroughly prepped and free of oils. You can also try warming the wraps slightly (a few seconds blast with the hair dryer or rubbing between your fingers), before application for better flexibility and grip. If they are an old, opened set, they may have begun to cure and are no longer flexible.
